New Influenster Website

Some people have heard me talk about a great program that allows you to test new products and give your feedback on them.  Well they have just launched there new website and it is amazing.

Influenster has made some exciting changes.   The website has a new fresh look and a spot for you to request an invite to join.

There is a new tab that lists multiple products that you can read reviews for or add your own.  The only down side is that at the moment you can not add products to the page.  Although we have been told that this feature is coming soon!!

There is a new section with all sorts of badges that you can earn.  The badges are for all sorts of things like surveys on what sweet treats you like, parenting style, etc.  Remember the more badges you ear the greater chance you have of getting selected for a VoxBox.  The VoxBox is the ultimate goal of any Influenster member.  It allows you to receive products for free to try out and review.  Your opinions are passed on to the makers of the products and are used in developing new products and improving on old ones.  So hurry up and request your invite to join one of the coolest sites out there.

To BC or not? A personal choice

TO BC or Not

Ok I don't understand why everyone is so hung up on if a person with natural hair did a big chop (BC) or not.  I never BC'd.  I didn't feel that I needed to.  I got my last relaxer in 2009.  Its now 2012.  I think I have done ok.  I didn't wake up one morning and decide to go natural.  It happened out of frustration in finding a stylist that could do my hair without it trying to make my hair supper straight and ending up breaking it off. Not everyone that is a stylist has what my granny would call "growing hands" and, as I found out, most have preconceived notions on how YOUR hair should look. I searched high and low for a stylist that I clicked with for over 3 years to no avail. And so my natural hair journey began in 2009. I didn't do a BC. I just never got another chemical service and have just trimmed my ends as I went along. I have tried a host of products and went to several Natural Hair shows. I watch A LOT of Youtube videos and read blogs and forums about natural haircare and styles. I am always surprised at how somme bloggers and forum comments are negative towards women who did not BC. These people need to have several seats _/ and get a grip. Who appointed you the Natural Hair police? These hair nazis are too funny. My bad that. I made a PERSONAL CHOICE and did not BC. I obviously did not get the memo or contract that stated to be a TRUE NATURAL you had to do a BC. I just find it funny that people can think it is ok to tell someone how they are supposed to travel their hair journey.I am very happy with my decision and hope that others will se past the drama and cattiness that goes on and embrace whatever decision they make. After all it is theirs to make!

The Many Uses of Ivory

I received a full size bar of Ivory soap from Influenster and I smiled.  The smell of it takes me back to my childhood.  I remember watching reruns of the Andy Griffin show, eating fried peach pies and chasing fireflies at night with my cousins.  I remember my Granny yelling at me because I would steal the strawberries out of her garden and throwing peas at the neighborhood kids.  I also remember taking a bath every night with Ivory soap and the smell of the towels that she wrapped up in when we were done.

I used the Ivory soap as a face wash and for bathing for myself and my niece and nephew.  I loved that it left our skin clean without that tight, dry feeling you can get with some soaps.  I felt squeaky clean and I LOVE that feeling!  After a week of use my skin was softer and more moisturized.  Those are very good things especially in the south's harsh summer heat.

Ivory bar soap is 99.4% pure which makes it gentle enough for even babies sensitive skin.  It has a multitude of uses such as laundry, craft projects, clothing spot treatment and of course face and body cleaning.  It is available in bar, body wash and liquid hand soap forms so you can chose your preference.  This product is one of the most cost effective soaps on the market and with all the ways you can use it you are sure to get the most bang for your buck.  You can get a 10 pack for around $4.49 and it is available at most retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target and CVS.

imPRESS Press On Manicure

I had never heard of Broadway imPress Nails until I received them in my Mom Voxbox from Influenster.  I am not a big person on keeping my nails done as I am a nurse and we can not wear artificial nails on the floors that I have worked on.  I usually just let my nails grow and keep them clean and trimmed.

I will say that trying these nails was fun and I was extremely impressed with the nails.  I received the solid color Velvet Rope to try.  They were very easy to apply and lasted a long time.  I actually wore mine for a little over a week and did not have a problem.  I type a lot for work and they stood up to that as well as my normal day to day activities.

I do have some suggestions for applying the nails to make the process go quicker.  I suggest you trim your nails and file them before you start to apply the nails.  I also suggest that you compare the nails and select the appropriate nail size for each of your nails and lay them out in order.  Then the application is very easy, you just peel and apply them to your own nail.  I suggest that you hold the nail in place and press firmly for 25-30 seconds before moving on to the next one.  These are not requirements but they will help make them last a little longer.

The price for these nails is very reasonable.  They run about $5.99 for solid colors & about $7.99 for different designs.  They come with various sizes in each kit and are available at multiple locations such as CVS, Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreens & Meijer.  You can find a full list of retailer at the imPress Nails site.

I definetely will try these again as they were very easy to use and lasted great.

Palmolive Fresh Sponge Review

Palmolive Fresh Sponge Dish Liquid does exactly what it claims.  It keeps the sponge smelling fresh.  I have been a die hard Dawn fan and had never thought about buying anything else until I received this product.  From the moment I tried it I was impressed.  It doesn't take much to clean the dishes or various kitchen items that I used it on.  It lathered nicely and had a pleasant scent, kind of fruity.  I used it on an old sponge and the new one that came with the the bottle.  There was no difference in the smell of the old sponge versus the new sponge.  If you are looking for something to help keep the kitchen clean and your sponges fresh this may be a good choice.  It will definitely give Dawn a run for its money in my house!!!

Palmolive's newest dish soap, Palmolive Fresh Sponge! Available now! Retails for 3.29 per 25oz bottle! Clean your dishes and sponge at the same time! To find out more go to:http://www.colgate.com/app/Palmolive/US/EN/HomePage.cwsp#FreshSponge

Words to Live By

Let it Go
By T. D. Jakes

There are people who can walk away from you.
And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you:
let them walk.

I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.

When people can walk away from you let them walk.

Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for
us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us.
[1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.
Let them go.

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to know when it's dead. You've got to know when it's over.

Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in
good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay. Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life,
then you need to......LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ......
LET IT GO!!!

If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and
see your worth.....
LET IT GO!!!
If someone has angered you .
LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge......LET IT GO!!!

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction......LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or
talents ............ LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude.......LET IT GO!!!

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better......LET IT GO!!!

If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level
in Him........LET IT GO!!!

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship.......LET IT GO!!!
If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to helpthemselves......LET IT GO!!!

If you're feeling depressed and stressed .........
LET IT GO!!!

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handlingyourself and God is saying 'take your hands off of it,' then you need to ......LET IT GO!!!

Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. GOD is doing a new
thing for 2008!!!

LET IT GO!!!

Get Right or Get Left .. think about it, and then,
LET IT GO!!!

Food for thought

A sweet lesson on patience.

A NYC Taxi driver wrote:

I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I honked again. Since this was going to be my last ride of my shift I thought about just driving away, but instead I put the car in park and walked up to the door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard
box filled with photos and glassware.

'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb.

She kept thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I told her.. 'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be treated.'

'Oh, you're such a good boy, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, 'Could you drive
through downtown?'

'It's not the shortest way,' I answered quickly..

'Oh, I don't mind,' she said. 'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have any family left,' she continued in a soft voice..'The doctor says I don't have very long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.
